The Street Are Empty is now launched! Go read the event log, and check out this post for instructions! The first part is mostly explained on the post, but the second part is going to be posted a bit later tonight. You get to read the description now, though! Yay!

☆THE GHOST OF YOU
When the "seance" goes wrong, as will be more specifically outlined in the second portion of the event log, a chunk of everyone's souls is essentially going to get ripped out of their bodies. Pretty brutal, right? Whoops. This wasn't supposed to happen.

Remember the memory and the aspect you entered the event with? With that soul chunk ripped out, your character will lose their ability to feel anything related to that aspect until they get theirs back. They will also temporarily and conspicuously lose the memory they regained at the awards ceremony. In terms of how to represent each aspect (Love, Duty, Passion, and Hope) in terms of the feelings they'll be losing, you have some artistic liberty. It's safe to say that someone with Love losing it won't be very friendly, and someone losing Duty might suddenly become a total loose canon.

These soul fragments are going to be mixed up and left to float around like hard to catch little will o the wisps like this. You can describe these will o the wisps however you want.

They're going to have some issues finding the right body. Anyone who bumps into a wandering soul fragment will "feel" the essence of person that lost it, and also experience the memory its attached to. Soul fragments can be "carried" around in your hand, sort of, but they may also flit away.

Your objective is going to be to get everyone's soul fragments back into the right bodies. This post can be used to plot those shenanigans. Make offers of your soul fragment for people to find, or anything like that. Mix it up!

Oh yeah, and Juno is pretty much just going to leave when this happens and lock everyone in the basement to let this sort itself out.

☆MEMORY REGAIN OPPORTUNITY
When the soul fragment is returned to your character's body, they'll regain a second memory along with the first one. It will be related to any one of the Aspects you want.

So would a lack of Duty potentially clash with the 'Loyalty to Virgo' programming? Or would the brainwashing win out?

It will, yes! They are so incapable of being loyal to stuff that they can't even be loyal to Virgo! This might have something to do with why Juno went upstairs.

Is being able to read music part of the brainwashing everyone would have received? Or can we play around with some characters not knowing how to read sheet music, if it makes sense for their supposed backstory?

There are high odds that they would know how to read sheet music, but it's possible they wouldn't, if for some reason that was especially fitting to their backstory.

So, basically, sure. But it's not common in Virgo's case.

Generally speaking it looks like someone made a general attempt at cleaning up down here before bringing anyone in, but like they had limited patience for it. All of the rooms are ostensibly locked, so what you're dealing with is mostly a bunch of corridors. Though some of them lead from what is mostly just walls full of doors to stuff like this. (Those little screen things are at about eye level.)

There is also at least one gurney sitting around, complete with the straps required to hold someone down.

The power is mostly off, right? So none of the screens will respond?

The lights are off, not the power. Which means if you stand in front of it and tap the screen, it will start booting up. (It works by touch, apparently.) It will scan your eye, and then the rest of your head. Then it will display your character's mug shot and an ID number.

Then it will ask for "Command Authorization."

I'll spare the poor mods me going over a bunch of ridiculous ideas for passwords, sooo...

Anything unusual about the mug shots? Anything in common with the ID numbers if a couple of people try it out and exchange information?

There isn't actually any place to enter a password! So we are both spared that indignity. If it's a voice confirmation, the screen doesn't make indication of it. Ultimately it gives very little guidance as to what it's looking for.

The ID numbers won't make any sense to the characters, but from an OOC standpoint, the numbers will start the same if they're from the same universe.

The the main thing about the mug shot is that you don't remember ever taking it. It doesn't look like a picture that was taken candidly either - its more like the person has been shuffled into a photobooth for this specific purpose. No one is smiling - the only emotion you get out of them is, at best, a faint sense of confusion. It's like the subject is wondering "how did I get here?"

They look just like they do now, though, complete with makeup and any additional tattoos.

Joining this exploration super late but what will happen when Doctor tells the device "Authorized!" and asks to see more photos? I'm guessing some sort of 'Access Denied' screen will pop up?

Actually, it won't even acknowledge him. Speaking to it in that matter doesn't even seem to trigger a process.

Yeah if it did that'd be too easy, even for regular Doctor. XD

Pao-Lin's instrument for her band is "percussion," so...would she actually be carting around, say, a big ol' vibraphone down to the basement? I haven't actually decided on what her "best" instrument is, so I'm fairly flexible with this.

Sorry for the huge delay on this, though it looks like you already made a decision - if people started trying to haul down something huge, Juno would just tell them to pick something they are...slightly less good at, and is smaller.

Tragically, no. It IS sort of hard to break with a fist, though. It cracks the screen but you couldn't get past the glass anyway.

As a reminder, Luce got stuck with 'Duty' and this memory regain. How she remembers it is basically detailed in that tl;dr at the bottom. The rest of what I wrote is mostly background information so people have some better context.

I'll get her top level up after a moment, but it's mostly going to be her practicing, puzzling out what the hell she's supposed to be practicing here, and lowkey criticizing Juno. She may try to help lead things along in the Duty group.

What happens in the second round of things? Well, Luce without Duty is going to be... surprisingly loosey goosey. She'll still love a whole lot of people- friends and her band family- but she won't see any reason to really... stick around. Not for her band, not even for Virgo. ~~oops y'all fucked up lmao~~ She might even try to straight up leave... Oops.

She might not even see any reason to be polite, actually. Oops. What's decorum, we wonder?

Well! Rei here has Duty and a memory that's a little bit odd. I'm totally interested in some temporary swaps if anyone wants to see it or wants to share with her!

Rei without duty? Mostly just a lot less serious. She'll be more selfish and fussy, and not be nearly so generous. Good thing it's only temporary, right?

To recap, Greg is losing Love, and has this memory to go with it. It's a simple, warm little memory, and with his voice there, it's not hard to identify as his. I'm all up for any sort of memory sharing and swapping or whatever!

He, on the other hand.......

...look, without love, there's... not much of Greg left. It's his motivator, it's what keeps him going, it's essentially his very core. Removed, there's just an empty, bitter, hollow man who wants nothing to do with anything. He'll have trouble seeing why he should bother with the issue at hand at all, let alone anything else, and he's likely to lash out at anyone who tries to coerce him.

If you want to interact with someone who is overwhelmingly Not Greg, now's your chance.

If Greg still needs someone to help him stop being Tiger Zero, then I volunteer Luce for it eventually. (Saying it's at the end for anyone who wants to interact with Not Greg so it doesn't get in the way of anything.)

You are a savior, Luce. He's going to be largely useless until his soul gets back to him, so probably best not to wait too long on fixing him. Still, time for anyone who wants to see him be a wreck.

And yes, definitely pick up on that familiar voice. Greg's programming has prevented him from making the connection.

WELL. It looks like Itachi is all out of hope. It was nice knowing you guys.

His memory was a brief glimpse of his little brother as a baby in his arms, and knowing that all his hopes rested on him. HUGE brotherly affection.

Expect the biggest fog of emo the likes of which the band has never seen, as well as self-destructive tendencies.

If Itachi attempts to self-destruct within Lenneth's view, that might actually crack her out of her fugue.

Well at least he'll be helpful to someone!

Pao-Lin is another duty-bound dame and her memory is the first time she was on stage for the HeroTV end-of-season awards! I...actually am not quite sure what I want to be doing with this event.

In any case, duty-less Pao-Lin will probably just kinda be lethargic and lazy, ahahaha. Who cares about anything, she just wants to eat sweets...

Funny thing: Lenneth was brainwashed to have nothing to her but duty in canon. Losing it here means she will have almost literally nothing left.

So she's going to need help. She's going to need people who can wake up other feelings within her. Even anger would help. People to jolt her.

Ankh's memory was hope which is actually not exactly a big driving force for him in the first half of the series. So while his hope will go away, it doesn't mean he will be totally without any agency. All it means is that he will probably be snappish, angry and wanting to collect all the shiny things for himself a lot more then normal.

So less older brother with his gossip ways and more 'it is all mine I want it all'. ~~forever not makes any sense sowwy~~

Ivan has this memory regain.

Without passion, Ivan is still probably going to get things done because he still has love and duty and hope-ish, but he'll be Eeyore about it all. Okay, he'll go do the thing, but it's probably not going to work. No need to get angry about it.

I am open to memory experiencing/switching if anyone wants to play with that.

Kouen is losing Love. Oh boy. (My memory writeup is here. It's set during chapters 278-279 of the manga if you want to see it in more detail/spoil yourself hugely if for Magi.) The thing with his general personality is that there really aren't going to be that many noticeable differences at first. It may take some actual interacting with him to realize that he's not being a dick because of that "stern older brother" thing he usually has going on. He's being a dick because he's genuinely a dick now. He doesn't care about any of you and he's only in this for himself.

There's probably going to be yelling. A lot of yelling. Please stop him.

Eliot's losing duty, but I think in his current brainwashed state he won't generally be too different. It's not a sense of duty that's keeping him around but rather genuinely wanting to be there and do his best and help. We'll see what happens though, it could definitely come up depending on the situation.

His memory regain is here and I'd very much like it if a couple of people got it just because he's trying very hard to ignore that it even happened and it'd be good to get it out there a bit more.

Gaige's regain was under Duty, but the thing here is, that's actually a bit weird for her! In general, she doesn't have a heavy sense of duty, and is a lot more about pursuing amusement or satisfaction. That being said, she won't actually change all that much with this part of her missing. She might be a little less apt to try and herd people in her group around, but she'll still want things fixed for the sake of others, so she won't be totally useless.

Her regain totally involved blatant murder, though, so that might be fun.

Considering how Luce reacted to being told about Gaige's regain, how do you feel about me being horrible and making her see it?

So Krieg has this vague memory that's more emotion than it is concrete, like the details are on the "tip of your tongue" but just out of reach.

At first, Krieg is actually totally down with the whole "making experimental music in a basement" thing, even if the hospital atmosphere low key freaks him out. But everything is going to take an entire 180 when the seance goes through; since the thrill of the Hunt is one of the major components that manages to keep the two sides of Krieg's personality working together, losing Love won't make Krieg depressive--he's going to become unpredictably violent and speak with violent incoherency as his self-control breaks down. That "low key freaking out" kicks into full gear and he will desperately want to get out of the room, so he'll use whatever he can get his hands on to break the door that Juno shut them behind. Expect a lot of broken and/or dinged instruments. That's what you get for playing with their souls, Virgo.

Krieg won't actively try to hurt anyone, but if you want your character injured by accident from Krieg's rampage or failed attempts to restrain him, hit me up!

Without that? He'd be your typical teenage asshole. His canon self could be pretty cold at times, but kind to those he came to care for. Without love he, well, wouldn't care about anyone.

Doctor will be losing love so I apologize ahead for any brutal behavior. X'D Let's hope it ends quickly otherwise he might have the time to turn into a power-hungry manipulative bastard before this is over. If he seems friendly while he's missing his love it's so he can pull one on you.

I guess it'd conveniently keep her from trying to organize and help take stock of the situation. Especially if she shows up hungover and hurting a little from a fight.

Yeah... keep to herself, smoke maybe, let other people worry. <_< They'll work themselves out, she'll poke around and nurse her headache.
