Welcome to Interstellar's first ever RESCUER TDM! A part of the Interstellar plot that has just opened up, this covers the entrance of those recruited by the lone space pilot Shep to join him on a mission to the planet Terra to rescue those held captive by Pride Records and Virgo Entertainment. Rescuers will not suffer any memory loss and will enter the game as they are, in contrast to the memory loss/force humanization of the musician half. Powers will be nerfed to a certain degree upon entering the game fully, but during recruitment they will remain at full power.

These prompts are designed to be game canon, for both rescuers and musicians both new and already in game. For those in game, they will start occurring around New Years in the form of dreams. The dreams will be very clear while happening, but after waking, they will swiftly fade away into something barely remembered. For rescuers, these dreams will occur very shortly before they are approached by Shep or other already recruited rebels to join the rescue squad and go save the people being held captive in Vista City. Rescuers will remember these dreams as clearly as something that actually happened in real life.

Both of these prompts take place in the dreamscape, ostensibly, and the surrounding will appear as whatever fits those taking part in a scene. It can shift and change as a thread goes along, as well, and may resemble things from a captive's home, the game setting, or anything else appropriate.

A1) FOR THE CAPTURED: The kidnapped musicians of Vista City will dream of being themselves - in a way more true than they have been for months now. They'll dream of themselves as they're meant to be, in physical form and manner of dress, and their personality will align more easily with their true nature, even as the confusing influences of their programming nag at their mind. It could alarm them, or it could feel somehow natural. Either way, their memories will still be gone, except for what they've recovered - but they feel somehow much closer to reach, like they may break through if only given the chance to dig just about deeper. They may dream of home, they may dream of Vista, but either way...when the morning comes, their memories of this experience will be all but wiped away. Including the memories of the strangers that promised that they would find them and take them home.

A2) FOR THE RESCUERS: The dream is the first sign of something being wrong. You'll find yourself somewhere else - either a scene from your home, or someone else's, or an alien world you've never seen. In this dream, you'll find a person. Perhaps it's someone you recognize, someone you love dearly, but that doesn't remember you. Maybe it's a stranger, lost, confused, and desperate for help. Either way, you find yourself reaching out to them - but outside of this dream, you are helpless to save them. The dream will fade but stay with you in your memory, and may be a key component in you choosing to believe and join the other rescuers when they come to your door. Something has been taken, and you will take it back.

These prompts are design to be kept as game canon after acceptance, and can be used as the official story of how your character entered the game. Importantly, the technology used to enter your timeline causes massive time distortions, which means that the outcome of this scenario will stagger and replay itself multiple times before settling on an outcome. This means that after the fact, you character may remember being encountered multiple ways, or going in more than one direction, before the timeline settled on a final path.

B1) JUST SAY YES: Soon after these dreams, rescuers will find themselves in a strange situation. Time will abruptly stop for every part of the world except for them, and fade into a ghostly vision of its former self - just in time for them to be approached by some mysterious strangers. Whether your rescuer chooses to run, fight, or talk, eventually they'll be told the truth - people of the multiverse have been captured and taken to a universe far away to be harvested for their the form of forcing them to becoming rock stars. You heard it here first, folks.

The people recruiting you will mostly be other player rescuers that have already been recruited (regardless of whether or not that's been threaded out - you can assume your guy got recruited by someone if you want to recruit OTHER people.) The pilot and owner of the space ship doing this appears to be a blue man named Shep. He's the guy that's apparently in charge of this whole thing, but he's so busy with the dimension hopping that he's kind of hard to find and talk to. He presumably recruited some of the first members personally, but things have been sort of getting more complicated since then.

B2) INTERSTELLAR DISCO: After you've agreed to come for whatever reason - to save you lover, friend, some guy, whatever - you're be taken upon the guitar shaped spaceship to wait out the tide of the temporal distortions picking you up has caused. It's a long journey back to Vista City, and you've got plenty of new comrades to get to know. This mission could take a while, so you better get comfy. You're in for the long haul now.

NOTE: If you want to see the interior of the spaceship (or if you want to see Shep dance) watch the music video posted up top. It's going to be a fair bit bigger in Interstellar to accommodate the big crew, but the essence is there.

This place is beautiful. Agent 3 can't help but be mesmerized by the colorful lights playing on the water. However, she doesn't go any closer to it. An Inkling by water is just asking for trouble.

Better answer the pink round guy's question. "I'm not sure how, but I'm here."

Kirby blinked for a moment and then bounced over to her. He'd never seen anyone like her before.

"Hi! Welcome to the Fountain of Dreams, poyo~" The puffball greeted, "Well, sorta anyway. I think we're in a dream right now." Which, again was a bit unusual, but Kirby would roll with it for now. He'd figure out what this was about eventually.

"Anyway, my name is Kirby. What's your name?"

"I'm Agent 3," she decides to say. Until she figures out just what's going on, it feels more appropriate, and she's in her Hero Suit in this supposed dream after all. "Nice to meet you."

"... So, why are we at the Fountain of Dreams?" Maybe she shouldn't have snacked on the s'mores before bedtime because Kirby looks kind of like a marshmallow. She wonders just what kind of sea creature he is. A sea sponge? A jellyfish without as many legs? A tadpole?

"Nice to meet you too, poyo!" Kirby didn't seem to give any indication of finding that introduction odd. Though Kirby being who he is, he probably thinks that's her actual name.

At her question he turns back to the fountain and stares at it curiously. "I don't know. The Fountain is the source of all the good dreams on Popstar, so it's pretty unusual for anyone to be dreaming about the Fountain itself like this. I thought maybe that means something happened that the Star Rod wants me to know about." Well, it was a good assumption to make. Why else would it bring him here? And maybe Agent 3 has something to do with it if she's here too? Of course it's not like Kirby's an expert on these things.

"Star Rod?" Agent 3 slowly makes her way closer to the Fountain of Dreams, very careful not to step in anything that looks wet. She knows that's not ink. There's a rippling reflection of her in the water as she looks into it. "I don't know anything about a Star Rod, but if that thing's responsible for good dreams and we're here, maybe the good dreams are in trouble?"

It... sort of makes sense to her. She turns her head and looks at it from another angle. "... Or... maybe it's broken because I don't know about you, but dreaming about colorful water that can be mistaken for ink sounds more like a nightmare."

"If it were something like that, people would just start having nightmares." Kirby replied, still staring thoughtfully at the fountain. "That's what happened when Nightmare poisoned it that one time." And nothing about the fountain seemed off to Kirby either. It had to be something else.

"And the star rod is that thing up there at the top." Kirby pointed a stubby little arm at it. From there Agent 3 would be able to see a red and white striped wand with a yellow star at the end sticking straight up out of the crown of the fountain "It's the source of the fountain's power, poyo."

But then he blinked and looked back at her again when she mentioned the rainbow water. "Poyo? But the fountain always looks like this. What's so bad about water, poyo?"

"Inklings can't swim in water. Everyone knows that..." Okay, so maybe not everyone because Kirby doesn't, and sometimes Callie forgets that fact. Agent 3 hasn't, however. Too many falls into the water in Camp Triggerfish and Mahi Mahi Resort reinforces the WATER IS BAD for her. "If the water is as colorful as ink, then some poor inkling will try to swim in it. And it's goodbye inkling."

So maybe the Fountain of Dreams is broken in that sense... for inklings.

"I didn't know that, poyo." Kirby said, still looking a bit confused. "I've never met an Inkling before."

Nor has he ever heard of squids that swam in ink instead of water. Or well, she kinda looks a bit like a squid anyway. Kirby is now curious enough to turn his attention away from the fountain for a bit.

"I've never met a... you before." She tilts her head, tentacles swaying slightly, as she looks at Kirby again. "Are you a sea sponge? A jellyfish? You don't look like you have bones."

And she'd be happy to show her transforming skills if Kirby is interested.

"Poyo?" Kirby just looks even more confused at this question. As if he doesn't know the answer himself. Which is funny since he's not the only one of his kind or anything, but there you go. Of course he might just find the question an odd one somehow. "Kirby is Kirby, poyo." And that's probably the only answer Agent 3 is going to get.

That tells Agent 3 all she needs to know. The questions that she has may not get a real answer. Hopefully, this next one will have a more satisfying answer. "So... how do we get out of here? It's nice, but I got things to do."

It sounds like the Dream Fountain is for Kirby, more than her, so if she can't help, then maybe she should let him do whatever he needs to do.
warpstarknight: (Confused)

[personal profile] warpstarknight 2016-01-17 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
The answer to that seemed pretty obvious to Kirby. "This, is a dream, so can't you just try waking up, poyo?"

Of course, there was still the question of why she was here to begin with. Maybe the Fountain just wanted him to meet her for some reason? Well, they'd met now, and maybe they'd meet again at some point if it was really that important. If she had something else she needed to do, there Kirby didn't see any reason for her to stay.

"Just try waking up?" she repeats. "That's crazy enough to work." Agent 3 paces in a small circle. What's a good way to make herself wake up? Ah! They're always showing Inklings pinching themselves to test if they're in a dream, so maybe she'll give that a try.

"Well... nice meeting you, Kirby. Stay fresh!" She reaches over and pinches her arm hard.

"Ow!" Agent 3 wakes up in her room in Inkopolis. She fumbles around for the light and sits at the edge of her bed. Her dream's fuzzy around the edges, but she remembers a pink talking ball and a rainbow fountain. "What was all that about...?
