TEST DRIVE MEME: THE SELF TITLED ALBUM

☆WELCOME TO INTERSTELLAR
And welcome to our first TDM! We've got two types of prompts to use this time around: the first takes place while your character is in the process of being captured, and the second is during their first brainwashed rockstar tour. The former is designed to be considered 100% game canon if you make it in officially, while the later is more speculative and will only work if you get lucky during label and band selection.

☆THE TALENT SEARCH
These prompts are design to be kept as game canon after acceptance, and can be used as the official story of how your character was captured. Importantly, the kidnappers entering your timeline causes massive time distortions, which means that the outcome of this scenario will stagger and replay itself multiple times before settling on an outcome. This means that after the fact, you character may remember being captured multiple ways, or going in more than one direction, before the timeline settled on a final path. Or at least, they'll remember this until their memories are wiped shortly afterwards, but that's okay! That's what memory regains are for. Read this page for more specifics on this situation. Any powers the characters have will be weakened and prone to malfunction to the point of uselessness.

A1) THE SEARCH: It always starts out this way, doesn't it? At some point in your life, you were just doing your thing, wherever you call home. Then, all at once, it's like you've been torn from your dimension by the roots. Time and space displace, and it's like you've been shifted one layer of reality to the left - like some kind of subspace where you can see your reality through it, like a rainbow surrealist image of your home. Even if you can see this ghost image of where you were, you can't interact with it meaningfully. Any friends or family are somewhere else. As you begin to wander, without any other options, you'll find that the scenery gradually shifts to ghost images of other places, other worlds. If you wander long enough, you'll even find other people, lost just like you are. But you probably won't have much time - you've been brought here for a reason, after all.

A2) THE HUNT: It could happen almost immediately, or it could happen hours later - but, at some point, your dimensional kidnappers start to do their sweep. Space Men in black body suits and gas masks pursue you on foot and in small spaceships, trying to sweep you and the other displaced up like fish in a net. Their guns contain a weird pink gas that will knock out most with only a single breath - and for those more enduring, they have the heavy artillery, like electrical nets and guns. The fallen will be sealed up into stasis pods for transport and loaded onto the ships, which seem like the only way to get out of this place by choice. This is where it ends, but are you going to put up a fight?

☆THE MAGIC TOUR BUS
By default, these prompt aren't considered canon, but if after you are accepted and sorted they can be tweaked into working for you, it'll be totally okay to keep them as a part of your rockstar's personal history. They take place after being kidnapped and brainwashed, on your character's first tour under their new label. As it turns out, it seems like brainwashing aliens isn't the only thing the abductees have to worry about.

B1) PLAY IT STRAIGHT: It's just another day on the tour bus, in between long stretches of highway. How do you fill your time? Do you practice your instrument, or do you take full advantage of the open bar? Do you sulk and try go to bed early? Do you yell at your bandmates for ruining the toilet? Do you troll people on Twitter? Tours being what they are, everyone is probably at least a little bit tired or cranky. Just don't do anything that will get the Manager on your ass, because that's always more trouble than it's worth.

B2) THAT'S NORMAL: The Managers aren't here, as far as you can tell, leaving you in a moment of relative relaxation. Something about those guys just make you uneasy, and they're always shoving you around and making you do things you don't really want to. However, these moments of peace don't last long, because it stars to become increasingly apparent that your tour bus might be...haunted? Whether its the bus turning on without a driver and without a key, wine glasses falling off tables, or guitar static sounding like frantic whispering, things are starting to get weird. Yet, at the same time, something in your subconscious is strongly suggesting that you should ignore it, and that everything is normal and fine...

B3) THEN WHO WAS GUITAR?: These weird experiences eventually culminate in a kind of phantom music bleeding in from the air around you. The source is impossible to discern but it's somehow...familiar? Like something that played at an important moment in your life, even if the event itself just won't come to mind. What's weirder, is that everyone seems to hear something different. It gets to you in a way that your programming doesn't like - but how do you react? Reluctantly take it in, or throw a fit until it stops?

[Surrender would open up a means of possible negotiation and gaining information, if they were lucky. Running certainly translated to defeat in the long term. However...]

I'll follow your lead, in that case. Though, I warn you; this may not work to our favor.
yuruse: (so you think)

[personal profile] yuruse 2015-09-17 07:51 pm (UTC)(link)
There's very little that will right now.

[Surrender could open up some options, or it might not. Running might eventually lead them to a way out, or it might not. Either way they're at a disadvantage.]

Though you may be right. At least they're not using deadly force.

That's how it looks right now, but we can't be sure. Who can say what happens after their prisoners get into custody?

[He shrugged, seemingly nonchalant, though the observant would note the dark look of caution in his gaze.]

Honestly, I've never seen tactics quite like this, or any Magic Tools similar to what they're using. They seem to be long range, but they're trying to exhaust and pin us in for an easier target.

[Honestly, all this running made him wonder if they were no better than livestock in their hunters' eyes.]

[One of the reasons Itachi is so keen on running rather than giving in is that he's an Uchiha. Even if his chakra can't be accessed here, an enemy could still learn far too much about his clan and his abilities from his body. He can't allow that.

But he also still doesn't know how he got here. They could have all the information they need already.]

They're succeeding. They can wear us down with numbers alone.

[personal profile] dishevelment 2015-09-17 10:07 pm (UTC)(link)
They already have; they've already taken many people, just from what I've seen so far.

[And thus they were at an impasse-- stay and be captured, or run and be captured. With the terrain unstable and the lack of familiarity of these tools between the two of then, neither option looked appealing. Though Koumei didn't appear to be much, he didn't doubt that their hunters knew of his status as both Imperial Prince and General Commander of the Empire's military forces. Doubtless he would be interrogated and, while he was confident that they would learn nothing of his country's military secrets from him, there was no telling whether or not they had access to a form of Clairvoyance Magic that would bring them the information they desired.

Being his normal unassuming self might not dissuade their enemies.

Perhaps flight really was a good option.

Dropping his loose robe to the ground and tying his disheveled ponytail tighter, he looked over at the other man with a quietly determined glint in his eyes.]

Let's go, [he said,] and leave me if I happen to fall behind. The two of us don't need to be caught at once.
yuruse: (moving)

[personal profile] yuruse 2015-09-18 05:57 am (UTC)(link)
[Itachi nods, though the idea of leaving this man behind if things went awry doesn't sit well with him. He doesn't want to do it unless it looks like he might be able to get away and get help, the likelihood of which looks less possible by the moment.

But right now he doesn't need to show hesitation. What he needs to do is approach the situation as though escape is entirely possible. A defeatist attitude also won't get them anywhere.

He gets moving, expecting the other man to stay close.]

Call out if you see anything worth running for.

[The ninja's eyesight might be better, but it's not perfect.]

[The man's expectations were well founded. Koumei did stick close, knowing that there was generally more chances of staying safe if they weren't alone. They could keep an eye out for each other and, even if their circumstances weren't perfect for even self-defense, it was better than nothing.]

I think...I think there's a rock formation up ahead, [he said after a few moments, sounding somewhat breathless from the running. He was quite out of shape, not terribly strong, and unaccustomed to wearing so few layers...]
yuruse: (look down upon)

[personal profile] yuruse 2015-09-18 09:24 pm (UTC)(link)
[Itachi's stamina might be lower, but it's lower by ninja standards. He's still in shape enough to cover long distances running if he has to. His training allows for that much.

He glances ahead to where the other man indicates. There does seem to be something there, but given the way things are shifting around there's no guarantee that it will stay. Even so, it's all they have right now, so he begins heading toward it.]

It's something, but I don't know how much cover it will really provide.

[Rocks on their own aren't a good enough place to hide.]
dishevelment: (reproachful)

[personal profile] dishevelment 2015-09-18 10:04 pm (UTC)(link)
[Rock formations tended to lend themselves to other features in the landscape, like canyons that had been gouged into the terraine by ancient rivers, or mountainous formations that rose up from the wasteland before them. But, without a map and relying solely upon visual observation of their surroundings, there was no telling how lucky they would be.]

It still may be worth investigating, [Koumei replied, picking up the pace to keep up with the other man.] Some cover is still better than no cover.
yuruse: (ready)

[personal profile] yuruse 2015-09-19 04:02 am (UTC)(link)
Not necessarily. If we can't actually hide then we might as well be sitting around waiting for them to capture us.

[They need somewhere they can duck down into. Some place that can be passed over and missed. And they need to be able to get there without being seen crawling into it. There are so many elements that can go wrong.]

And so much here looks unstable...

[personal profile] dishevelment 2015-09-19 01:14 pm (UTC)(link)
You're not rethinking your decision to fly, are you?

[He had no patience for people who changed their minds so quickly, even in situations such as these were any decision meant the difference between the possibility of surviving or not.

...If only he had his weapon, this would be a different story.]
yuruse: (serious)

[personal profile] yuruse 2015-09-19 07:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Running always included the possibility of hiding. Escape means to get away from our pursuers by whatever means necessary. It also means being adaptable.

[So no, he hadn't changed his decision to "fly", but he has to be ready to alter the way he goes about it. Flexibility is important to a ninja in more than just the physical sense.]

Do you disagree?
dishevelment: (war counsel)

[personal profile] dishevelment 2015-09-19 07:34 pm (UTC)(link)
No-- I just wanted to be sure.

[Because hiding had always been a part of the agenda one way or the other. Koumei had thought of surrender in part because of his own relative defenselessness, but the situation has changed now that he was working with someone else.]/small>

Where there is one rock, there is other things. We may be in luck once we see what's there.
yuruse: (windswept)

[personal profile] yuruse 2015-09-20 06:52 pm (UTC)(link)
[Normally Itachi would agree with that assessment, but with the landscape as it is here they can't be certain. Those rocks could be the only formation like that for miles, and a single standing formation of rocks isn't going to provide much cover. Even if it had some sort of cave they could hide it, their pursuers would just search the place until they found them.

It's like hiding under a teacup on an otherwise empty table.]

... We can hope.
