☆BETTER TO PRETEND

Radio hasn’t killed the video star just yet in Vista City. No television show has proved that better than “Fairy Trial”, a gameshow with a theme around fantasy and fairy tales. It’s proven to be quite popular, to the point that this is their ten year anniversary. To celebrate their newest season, they’re opening with some surprise guests: some recent and hot musicians from media empires Pride Records and Virgo Entertainment.

Here’s how Fairy Trial works. You have your “heroes” and your “royals”. A Hero’s goal is to reach their Royal, whatever that means for their particular round. A Royal can help or hinder as they see fit, using what they have at their disposal. Every round is based off of a different fairy tale. Dressing up may or may not be mandatory.

Musicians have been invited on as this season’s Royals. To help promote both the show and its anniversary, people are being invited off the street from all over Vista City to audition for the chance to be selected as “heroes”. Wouldn’t you know it, that will just happen to include actual rescuers….

The first part will go up in a log and be open to everyone. It will include musicians and rescuers being separately briefed to explain what’s being asked them, an opportunity to ICly sign up (but not mandatory) with public ‘auditions’ judged by the hosts, and a small period of time where everyone can look over the various things involved with Fairy Trial including the costume area and previous season rounds.

The second log will only be for those who have OOCly signed up. It will be filmed by the crew of Fairy Trial, and there will be sub-threads for the Heroes to try and reach the Royals to successfully complete their round. There will also be an after party, as thanks from the crew to everyone who has participated. There can only be one grand prize winner, but there will be gift bags for all participants!

☆BUT WHY THOUGH?

But why, you ask? For the Musicians, the answer is easy - their boss told them to. For Rescuers, though, it will be at the behest of Gold. Gold has been working on some magic lately that they are hoping will be able to protect some of the captives from mental manipulation - unfortunately, it will be impossible to test out without prolonged access to the subjects themselves, which they are hoping to accomplish by sending in a bunch of the rescuers to go undercover and activate the charms.

To accomplish this, Gold is going to be putting glamours on all the volunteering rescuers, that will make them stand out from the crowd and compel the judges to select them. If you want to say your character tried out but that they failed, you can assume that the glamour didn’t work well enough in their case. Gold cannot guarantee a 100% success rate.

Even if your character doesn’t try out as a contestant (god knows some of them can’t pull of human even at the best of times) they will be able to sneak around, aid the other contestants from the sidelines, and help Gold with magic stuff from the sidelines. Yes, this game show is getting rigged as heck.

EDIT: Due to some people wanting to have rescuers participate that are blatantly inhuman we are going to handwave that Gold will be able to do some magic that will turn them human looking for the necessary duration of the event! It's more of a glamour than a physical transformation, but it will work just fine.
