☆RESCUER TEST DRIVE: SOMETHING ABOUT US
☆WELCOME RESCUERS
Welcome to Interstellar's second RESCUER TDM! A part of the Interstellar plot that first opened a couple months ago, this TDM cover the second round of recruitment for those approached by the lone space pilot Shep to join him on a mission to the planet Terra to rescue those held captive by Pride Records and Virgo Entertainment. Rescuers will not suffer any memory loss and will enter the game as they are, in contrast to the memory loss/force humanization of the musician half. Powers will be nerfed to a certain degree upon entering the game fully, but during recruitment they will remain at full power.☆A DREAM ABOUT YOUThese prompts are designed to be game canon, for both rescuers and musicians both new and already in game. For those in game, they will start occurring around New Years in the form of dreams. The dreams will be very clear while happening, but after waking, they will swiftly fade away into something barely remembered. For rescuers, these dreams will occur very shortly before they are approached by Shep or other already recruited rebels to join the rescue squad and go save the people being held captive in Vista City. Rescuers will remember these dreams as clearly as something that actually happened in real life.
Both of these prompts take place in the dreamscape, ostensibly, and the surrounding will appear as whatever fits those taking part in a scene. It can shift and change as a thread goes along, as well, and may resemble things from a captive's home, the game setting, or anything else appropriate. Rescuers that are already in game can also end up in this dreamscape, and can run into both new musicians and new rescue team recruits.
►A1) FOR THE CAPTURED: The kidnapped musicians of Vista City will dream of being themselves - in a way more true than they have been for months now. They'll dream of themselves as they're meant to be, in physical form and manner of dress, and their personality will align more easily with their true nature, even as the confusing influences of their programming nag at their mind. It could alarm them, or it could feel somehow natural. Either way, their memories will still be gone, except for what they've recovered - but they feel somehow much closer to reach, like they may break through if only given the chance to dig just about deeper. They may dream of home, they may dream of Vista, but either way...when the morning comes, their memories of this experience will be all but wiped away. Including the memories of the strangers that promised that they would find them and take them home.
►A2) FOR THE RESCUERS: The dream is the first sign of something being wrong. You'll find yourself somewhere else - either a scene from your home, or someone else's, or an alien world you've never seen. In this dream, you'll find a person. Perhaps it's someone you recognize, someone you love dearly, but that doesn't remember you. Maybe it's a stranger, lost, confused, and desperate for help. Either way, you find yourself reaching out to them - but outside of this dream, you are helpless to save them. The dream will fade but stay with you in your memory, and may be a key component in you choosing to believe and join the other rescuers when they come to your door. Something has been taken, and you will take it back.☆MAKE THESE DREAMS COME TRUEThese prompts are design to be kept as game canon after acceptance, and can be used as the official story of how your character entered the game. Importantly, the technology used to enter your timeline causes massive time distortions, which means that the outcome of this scenario will stagger and replay itself multiple times before settling on an outcome. This means that after the fact, you character may remember being encountered multiple ways, or going in more than one direction, before the timeline settled on a final path.
►B1) JUST SAY YES: Soon after these dreams, rescuers will find themselves in a strange situation. Time will abruptly stop for every part of the world except for them, and fade into a ghostly vision of its former self - just in time for them to be approached by some mysterious strangers. Whether your rescuer chooses to run, fight, or talk, eventually they'll be told the truth - people of the multiverse have been captured and taken to a universe far away to be harvested for their souls...in the form of forcing them to becoming rock stars. You heard it here first, folks.
The people recruiting you will mostly be other player rescuers that have already been recruited (regardless of whether or not that's been threaded out - you can assume your guy got recruited by someone if you want to recruit OTHER people.) The pilot and owner of the space ship doing this appears to be a blue man named Shep. He's the guy that's apparently in charge of this whole thing, but he's so busy with the dimension hopping that he's kind of hard to find and talk to. He presumably recruited some of the first members personally, but things have been sort of getting more complicated since then.
►B2) INTERSTELLAR DISCO: After you've agreed to come for whatever reason - to save you lover, friend, some guy, whatever - you're be taken upon the guitar shaped spaceship to wait out the tide of the temporal distortions picking you up has caused. It's a long journey back to Vista City, and you've got plenty of new comrades to get to know. This mission could take a while, so you better get comfy. You're in for the long haul now.
NOTE: If you want to see the interior of the spaceship (or if you want to see Shep dance) watch the music video posted up top. It's going to be a fair bit bigger in Interstellar to accommodate the big crew, but the essence is there.☆HELPFUL INFO► Follow the mod plurk for updates:interstellar5555

Connie Maheswaran - Steven Universe
[This is not her room and, in a very plain nightgown that droops near her ankles, Connie feels a flicker of fear rattle her heart. Sure, she's gone up against mutant monstrosities, but... Steven's always been there, or her parents, or somebody.]
[For a moment, in her confusion, she's only a girl of twelve.]
[(And three quarters.)]
[But then the moment passes, and she steels herself again with her shoulders straightening. Quickly, she glances around- both to get a grasp on her surroundings and to see if there's anything that can fit in her hand.]
B2
[Connie, despite all the adventures she's gone on just by knowing Steven Universe, has never been on a spaceship. Sure, she's been in the enormous wreck of a spaceship, but never on one.]
[This is a very serious mission, she tries to remind herself, clasping a sword as tall as she is to her body. Steven, and Garnet, and Mister Universe- they've all been kidnapped for horrible reasons, and it's up to her to save them.]
[...But holy shit she's on a SPACESHIP flying through TIME AND SPACE]
[One can find the young swordswoman using what appears to be a large pink lion as a stepping stool to stare out a window with shining eyes. Lion doesn't seem to care much, for he is currently asleep.]
A2
Frisk isn't entirely bothered anymore at finding themself where they shouldn't be. It's nearly overwhelmingly hot here; the stone platforms tower above rivers of lava below, but aren't quite high enough to avoid the convection. There's a large metal structure off in the distance, but the only signs of civilization right here are a few conveyor belts leading off towards other rock islands.
Idly, they nudge a loose pebble off the side with their pan, watching it sploosh down into the lava below. It's only then that they glance up and notice Connie. Oh, hey, another human! Neat. They wave.]

Hey, do you know where we are?
[This is pretty obviously a dream, right? So who knows what kind of answer she'll get.]
no subject
Hotland.
In a dream.
no subject
Oh, I guess that's a pretty accurate name. I'm Connie, by the way.

Well, hello. It seems you've manage to tame a giant pink carnivore. Tell me, would you happen to rent him out?
[First, rent the lion
Second, find enemies to eat
Third, have the lion EAT the enemies
Fourth, deal with a severe case of lion idigestion and then!
With her enemies out of the way
CONQUER THE WORLD!
What could go wrong?
Also there happens to be a giant fluffy lavender cat tail swishing out of the bottom of her dress. Just... you know, in case you happen to notice.]
you are amazing, pls know this
[Still.]
[Still.]
[There's a brief moment of hesitation when she looks back at the older woman talking to her. After that, however, she shakes herself out of it.]
Oh, um, I'm sorry, but Lion doesn't really belong to me. He's my friend Steven's.
[As much as a large cat can belong to anyone, anyway.]
y thank u
What if I were to give you... [she reaches into the top of her dress] To give you... [reach reach]
Where is it?
[have a rather forced smile]
One second.
[and she turns away and peers down the front of her dress] I know I put it somewhere.
Maybe it's...
[she'll pat her tail, pat the cloth tied around her head, jump up and down a few times. Give her a minute]

[He's standing outside a small theater he hasn't been to in years, for reasons he doesn't usually talk about, listening to the sounds of the city. Maybe he'll go inside and see who's onstage - Thursday night is improv night, after all...]
[It's a few moments before he picks up on the tune that's out of place there - young, and uncertain, and determined to be brave. He turns to see a young girl in a nightgown and offers her a smile.]
Hey. You doin' okay?
no subject
Well, um- [A flicker of uncertainty again before she calms herself and forges ahead. Just a dream, right!] I think I'm a little lost, sir. I'm supposed to be back home.
[Still, this is kind of cool. She's heard of having lucid dreams- especially after Steven's problems trying to find Malachite- but this is a first for her.]
A2
One unfamiliar scent in the air causes her to turn just enough to spot some kind of small animal she's never seen before. Wearing some kind of nightgown too. She pulls her gun from its holster but she doesn't raise. Not just yet.]
no subject
[And drawing a gun, oh crud.]
[For some reason, it's the more mundane and recognizable part of this whole scenario that hits Connie first, and she throws her hands up with her fingers spread out defensively.]
Don't shoot me!
no subject
Don't worry, I won't. [She makes a point to demonstrate putting the gun back in her holster.] The streets can be dangerous if journeyed alone. Are you alright?

They are the interior Pride laboratories, and they are a place Steven's dreams have visited many times over the last month.
He's curled up in the corner of his cell with his hands bound, unmoving despite the fact that the door to the cage is hanging open. He's too scared to get up, too scared to leave. He's afraid it will be seen as resistance, as obstinate, when it's not. All he wants is for them to stop this - he wants to give in, so it can be over - but they still won't let him go.
Even in his dreams, the shattered lines of his broken gem reflect across his entire body, adapted to his younger form. These two images don't go together, but Steven can't get his head around it. Right now, he's just waiting for it to be over.]
goddammit quix
[This place is... like a hospital. Worse than a hospital. There's not even a mimicry of comfort.]
[All these thoughts are flung out the window when her eyes are drawn to the soft strange glow in the room, so different from its alien sharpness, and it takes her a split second to recognize-]
Steven!
[Worry, terror, both twisted horribly in her cry as she spots her best friend, and Connie is bursting forward before she can think twice about it. Her body automatically drops her knees down against the smooth floor, sliding her across until she's stopped in front of the open cage. She's never seen anything like this. Heard, of course, the stories about what had happened to Amethyst, how Lapis Lazuli had been helped, but... it has never occurred to Connie up until this moment what would happen to Steven's gem in the event anything happened. Not really.]
[And, staring at the glittering pink that's broken through his skin, all Connie can think in quiet horror is who could heal Steven if he was the one who always healed everyone else?]
no subject
He freezes, not knowing what to do but stare. He starts to reach out, but his hands being bound together disrupts the movement, and he stops. How did she get here? Does she really know him?]
You...You know me...
[It's not a question, he knows that it's the truth, but he can't remember how. He doesn't know how she's here with him now.]

[Riku admires Lion for a moment.] He reminds me of some friends of mine.
[He turns his attention to Connie, smiling, friendly, and eyes the sword]
You wanna spar? Not many sword wielders on this ship, and I'm afraid of getting out of practice.
[He's serious. Riku's not going to judge Connie on her age or size. She has a sword, and he can tell she knows how to use it.]
no subject
His name is Lion. He's Steven's, so he's worried about what happened to him too.
[Definitely worried, she's sure. Don't let the sleeping fool you. The invitation to spar has her perk up, and she hops off of Lion's enormous pink body.]
I'd love to! I only get to spar so often when I meet with Pearl, my teacher... And it's usually a different sword than this one, too.
no subject
[Riku nods and takes a step back, looks around him.]
I know Pearl, haven't really had a chance to talk to her that much though.
Think there's enough space here?

Everything in the dream is square. Aside from Connie, but that's besides the point. And the pancakes keep avoiding Garnet's fork even though she clearly wants to eat them. Dratted dream logic, you can never just do something without a struggle.]
This is not funny.
no subject
Oh, wow. That's really annoying. Maybe you can... box them in?
[Everything being square as it is, maybe that's kind of unfunny to say, but... There's no other way to really say it.]
no subject
[It could be the logic of not realizing its a dream, or just the dream being stubborn about it. Or maybe Garnet's just put out by all the squares that one more square is just a no, who knows?]

He watches her for a bit, lightly amused at how fascinated she seems about being in space. He only vaguely remembered the Denliner, really. Mostly in sensations and a lot of shouting from someone that wasn't Ankh for once. This time he could properly enjoy it.
He comes up behind her, but still giving Lion a cautious couple feet for a gap. He bent over a bit to peek over her shoulder so she could see him in the reflection of the glass. Someone ought to help keep track of the kids, after all.]
Pretty cool, huh?
no subject
It's amazing! I've heard about being in space before, but I've never gotten to go myself!
no subject
Not too many kids get to go to space for reasons like this, huh? It's like something out of a comic book I read years ago.
My name is Shingo, by the way. Shingo Izumi. How about yours?
