[There's always something special about LA, something that Vista City doesn't have - intact Music, for one, as the brainwashing out here tends to be a lot less magical and a lot more corporate, but nonetheless. It's something about what's hidden behind the lights - the coffee shops and theaters and clubs and the people that make the city come to life, thrumming with a beat all its own. J hadn't figured he'd be dreaming about the city - evidently he missed it more than he thought.]
[He's standing outside a small theater he hasn't been to in years, for reasons he doesn't usually talk about, listening to the sounds of the city. Maybe he'll go inside and see who's onstage - Thursday night is improv night, after all...]
[It's a few moments before he picks up on the tune that's out of place there - young, and uncertain, and determined to be brave. He turns to see a young girl in a nightgown and offers her a smile.]
