Tiger doesn't actually push J away when he offers that reassuring contact. He might have earlier, but now he's just too distressed and lonely feeling - part of him is willing to take anything he can get in terms of positive contact. He rubs his eyes, trying to get rid of the tears.

"People keep...keep telling me it's not my fault, but...but I don't remember being any good," he says, miserably. "I'm...I'm just stupid and mean."
