So he dropped his last name, emptied his bank account, ran and never looked back at his adoptive parents. Never thought about them again. Sure, there were the lawyer fees involved in the emancipation process but he's got very clear memories of his band manager helping out and both of them being very, very happy with the outcome.
Not that he considers the manager a parent or anything cheesy like that. A means to an end. Just like everyone else. If he has to play as part of a team-- a band-- for now, so be it.
