☆RESCUER TEST DRIVE: SOMETHING ABOUT US

☆WELCOME RESCUERS

Welcome to Interstellar's second RESCUER TDM! A part of the Interstellar plot that first opened a couple months ago, this TDM cover the second round of recruitment for those approached by the lone space pilot Shep to join him on a mission to the planet Terra to rescue those held captive by Pride Records and Virgo Entertainment. Rescuers will not suffer any memory loss and will enter the game as they are, in contrast to the memory loss/force humanization of the musician half. Powers will be nerfed to a certain degree upon entering the game fully, but during recruitment they will remain at full power.

☆A DREAM ABOUT YOU
These prompts are designed to be game canon, for both rescuers and musicians both new and already in game. For those in game, they will start occurring around New Years in the form of dreams. The dreams will be very clear while happening, but after waking, they will swiftly fade away into something barely remembered. For rescuers, these dreams will occur very shortly before they are approached by Shep or other already recruited rebels to join the rescue squad and go save the people being held captive in Vista City. Rescuers will remember these dreams as clearly as something that actually happened in real life.

Both of these prompts take place in the dreamscape, ostensibly, and the surrounding will appear as whatever fits those taking part in a scene. It can shift and change as a thread goes along, as well, and may resemble things from a captive's home, the game setting, or anything else appropriate. Rescuers that are already in game can also end up in this dreamscape, and can run into both new musicians and new rescue team recruits.

A1) FOR THE CAPTURED: The kidnapped musicians of Vista City will dream of being themselves - in a way more true than they have been for months now. They'll dream of themselves as they're meant to be, in physical form and manner of dress, and their personality will align more easily with their true nature, even as the confusing influences of their programming nag at their mind. It could alarm them, or it could feel somehow natural. Either way, their memories will still be gone, except for what they've recovered - but they feel somehow much closer to reach, like they may break through if only given the chance to dig just about deeper. They may dream of home, they may dream of Vista, but either way...when the morning comes, their memories of this experience will be all but wiped away. Including the memories of the strangers that promised that they would find them and take them home.

A2) FOR THE RESCUERS: The dream is the first sign of something being wrong. You'll find yourself somewhere else - either a scene from your home, or someone else's, or an alien world you've never seen. In this dream, you'll find a person. Perhaps it's someone you recognize, someone you love dearly, but that doesn't remember you. Maybe it's a stranger, lost, confused, and desperate for help. Either way, you find yourself reaching out to them - but outside of this dream, you are helpless to save them. The dream will fade but stay with you in your memory, and may be a key component in you choosing to believe and join the other rescuers when they come to your door. Something has been taken, and you will take it back.

☆MAKE THESE DREAMS COME TRUE
These prompts are design to be kept as game canon after acceptance, and can be used as the official story of how your character entered the game. Importantly, the technology used to enter your timeline causes massive time distortions, which means that the outcome of this scenario will stagger and replay itself multiple times before settling on an outcome. This means that after the fact, you character may remember being encountered multiple ways, or going in more than one direction, before the timeline settled on a final path.

B1) JUST SAY YES: Soon after these dreams, rescuers will find themselves in a strange situation. Time will abruptly stop for every part of the world except for them, and fade into a ghostly vision of its former self - just in time for them to be approached by some mysterious strangers. Whether your rescuer chooses to run, fight, or talk, eventually they'll be told the truth - people of the multiverse have been captured and taken to a universe far away to be harvested for their souls...in the form of forcing them to becoming rock stars. You heard it here first, folks.

The people recruiting you will mostly be other player rescuers that have already been recruited (regardless of whether or not that's been threaded out - you can assume your guy got recruited by someone if you want to recruit OTHER people.) The pilot and owner of the space ship doing this appears to be a blue man named Shep. He's the guy that's apparently in charge of this whole thing, but he's so busy with the dimension hopping that he's kind of hard to find and talk to. He presumably recruited some of the first members personally, but things have been sort of getting more complicated since then.

B2) INTERSTELLAR DISCO: After you've agreed to come for whatever reason - to save you lover, friend, some guy, whatever - you're be taken upon the guitar shaped spaceship to wait out the tide of the temporal distortions picking you up has caused. It's a long journey back to Vista City, and you've got plenty of new comrades to get to know. This mission could take a while, so you better get comfy. You're in for the long haul now.

NOTE: If you want to see the interior of the spaceship (or if you want to see Shep dance) watch the music video posted up top. It's going to be a fair bit bigger in Interstellar to accommodate the big crew, but the essence is there.

Sarah Jane Smith | Doctor Who (1963 series, Season 14)

A2

She's got that wonderful, peppery, Saturday-teatime-just-as-the-days-begin-to-get-shorter feeling in her stomach again. It feels like back just after the summer of 1976, when that heatwave had finally broken into a sudden storm - so much rain it was like the windows were exploding.

She knows exactly that it means. She's humming as she heads down the path and through the gate and sees it, standing at the end of the road; as far away as it is, it seems to her as big as a towering gothic castle. Things are usually the wrong size in dreams, especially things that are complicated sizes to start with.

She knocks, three times, cutely, and stands with her hands behind her back, waiting for him to get a move on and let her in before she dies of old age. When he doesn't answer, she tries again; she looks for her key, but she can't seem to remember where she put it.

"Look at this!" she announces to herself, with giggly annoyance. "He says he's coming back for me, and then he goes and locks me out!"

Then she begins to realise someone must have been around to hear her.

The hedges behind the garden wall seem fleshy; the tarmac on the road as dry as an alien mine; she shivers in her jacket with fear, but it seems safe and funny, the kind she likes.

"Who's there?" she asks, grinning at her own silliness, leaning against the TARDIS coyly. "Give me a leg-up, would you? Maybe I can get up the drainpipe."

If only there was a drainpipe, instead of just a stupid little light... She thinks that if he shows up now, she'd punch his stupid little light out.

B2

All she can see is her own reflection against the window opening onto the stars, stars she never thought she'd see this way again. Even from up here, all the fear and wonder they promise her sinks into her bones.

"You never know, maybe I'm down there, orbiting round one of those stars," she says. "I'm still not sure where I went or what order I did it all in. But this - this spaceship!" She walks, pointedly, over to a wall, and shoves on it with her elbow. Nothing wobbles. "It's so luxurious! I feel like I'm being taken in a limousine!"

"Excuse me?" A much older (though he doesn't know it) Doctor comes wandering her way from around the other side of the garden wall. He thought he saw a familiar blue box and it appears he has company again. That seems to be a reoccurring thing in his latest visions of the TARDIS. All sorts of people, not always human, either in the box with him or running towards the box to safety or to take him down. He'll gladly take this dream with an ordinary looking young lady over the one with the alien soldiers shooting at him.

"Hello," he gives her a more proper greeting once he's clear of the hedges from the garden. With a better look at her he feels a twinge of familiarity or nostalgia tug at him. "Have we met? I feel as though we've met." It's becoming easier to recognize that feeling between visions. He raises a finger, and opens his mouth, hoping her name will spill out instinctively. It doesn't come to him just yet. "Oh. Virgo programming. Has me tongue tied again," he grumbles.

Sarah knows, with dream logic, that this is him. She had decided back when the Dandy lay poisoned and broken on the floor of his laboratory that the Doctor's appearance doesn't matter to her; on a few of the Bohemian's melodramatic days, when he'd been lying about bundled up in his scarf insisting his body was just one of many temporary vessels and it only had aesthetic significance in her limited and superficial human mind, she'd told him what he wanted to hear, which was that he looked lovely and he would always look lovely, whatever he looked like. But even so, she can't help feeling a pang of grief.

"You look so young," she says, throat shaking. "You look about my age!"

She has to quietly lower her eyes and allow herself a moment to think of the Bohemian's wild grin and explosive eyes and dark voice, and fold it up, and put it away. She'd miss him. But it was good to see him again. You had to understand him as he was; you couldn't be too sentimental. She wouldn't be. She wouldn't...

"You've forgotten me," she says, and her vision wobbles with tears. She screws up her face; her voice comes out tiny, but there's nothing she can do to keep them back. "You've forgotten me and the last thing you did was promise me you'd never forget me, and you've forgotten me!"

trustme: The Doctor looking confused (confused or disbelief)

[personal profile] trustme 2016-03-07 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
He watches as her face goes red and tears well up in her eyes. None of the others had reacted this way so far- they were always confused or denied that he had forgotten them, most of them just continued on with whatever they had been doing or saying because they were only illusions from his memory of friends and companions. But this time, this woman clearly was more than just a memory, he can feel her strong emotions there in front of him as if they're really standing next to each other.

"Oh! Oh! No, not on purpose! If I promised, I would never of my own will!" He raises his hands and comes close to trying to pat her shoulder, not sure if it was right to, so he's left waving his hands awkwardly. "It's a long story but I've been taken away from where I belong and some very very bad people did something to my head. I can't remember my life. I- I don't entirely know who I am. I'm sure I'll remember you again, it just hasn't come back yet."

When his hands move towards her, she shrinks back reflexively, even though he doesn't look like he's going to touch her. She's not ready yet. She keeps analysing his way of speaking, which reminds her more of the Dandy, and his way of talking with his hands, which reminds her more of the Bohemian -

but then she's doing the one thing she promised herself she wouldn't ever do to the Doctor, which was to compare him to his previous self. And she hates the fact that her human way of seeing faces means she can't help it, and feels very stupid and small.

"I'm - sorry - " she says, taking off her jacket and using it to wipe her eyes. "I can't believe you've caught me blubbing like this. It's not even your fault!"

She puts her jacket back on and takes a breath. She allows herself to notice that he has very lovely green eyes, full of boylike concern even though he couldn't remember her, and it makes her chest hurt a little less.

"It's not your fault," she repeats, trying to make it real. "Who did this to you? Can't we do anything? We'd usually be able to do something, wouldn't we? I mean - " she shakes her hands, trying to come up with something helpful - "remember when Sutekh took over your mind, and all you could do was praise Sutekh, and you couldn't even recognise me when you looked at me? You got out of it by convincing him you were dead, so that he let go."

"I think the people who did this wouldn't let me go even if I was dead. It's not possession this time, it's brainwashing. Up until recently I was convinced I was a regular human from Terra and that all I ever wanted all my life was to become a musician. I'm not actually sure what my real name is or where I really come from."

He glances towards the TARDIS, knowing that type of technology alone pointed towards him being something very different from what Virgo had programmed him to believe. He just hadn't confirmed it yet so he hadn't told anyone else that he might not be human.

"Right now I'm working as a musician under a label called Virgo Entertainment, and the man in charge, Edward Blanche, is the one to blame for all this. He and a lady, Lesedi Santiago, are the CEOs of music labels that have kidnapped people and brainwashed them to join their music business. I'm still working on the why."
